About this project
WardogsRuler is a free Wardogs distance calculator and map ruler for Windows. The in-game overlay measures range and compass bearing between your mortar or artillery position and a target, directly over your game map.
A portable desktop overlay for measuring map distance and compass bearing in Wardogs. Calibrate against a known map distance, then drag from your gun to the target to read metres and degrees live.
Choose a line, an axis-aligned reference or a square map cell for calibration. A hotkey cycles between measuring, keeping the result visible and hiding it. Customize the hotkey, result position and text size.
Includes an animated guide and eight interface languages: English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish, Polish and Portuguese. Measurement works offline.
Use borderless windowed mode and a north-up map. Recalibrate after changing map zoom. The ruler measures map distance and bearing; it does not compensate for elevation or calculate a ballistic firing solution. It runs as a separate overlay and does not read game memory.
System requirements
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. .NET Framework 4.8. Borderless windowed mode; exclusive fullscreen is not supported.
Does this Wardog calculator calculate a ballistic firing solution?
No. WardogsRuler measures map distance in metres and bearing in degrees. It does not calculate elevation, firing angles or ballistic trajectories. Calibrate against a known map distance, keep the map north-up and recalibrate after changing zoom.
How to run
1. Download and extract the entire ZIP. Open the WardogsRuler-1.1.32 folder and run WardogsRuler.exe. Keep the assets folder beside the EXE for the animated guide. No installation is needed.
2. Select borderless windowed mode in the game and open the map. Set your reference length in metres (100 m by default).
3. Save and minimize the ruler to the tray. Press ~ to enter measurement mode.
4. Hold the right mouse button and drag a known reference distance or map-cell square to calibrate.
5. Hold the left mouse button and drag from your gun to the target. North / screen up is 0°; east is 90°.
6. Press ~ to keep the result and return mouse control to the game. Press again to hide it. Esc cancels immediately.
7. Recalibrate whenever you change the map zoom. Double-click the tray icon to reopen settings.
Updates are checked at startup and daily. You can also use Check now in settings. When an update is offered, download and extract the new ZIP, close the old app and run WardogsRuler.exe from the new folder. Your settings are kept.
Latest update
1.1.32 — Updated the ZIP package after a Defender detection affecting the previous archive. The application files are unchanged. Includes Arrow / Cross selection, Arrow by default, and whole-degree compass bearings. Download the archive again and extract it into a new folder.
